Career Application

Data and Email Marketing Intern

You are subscribed to a few email newsletters and read them before you get out of bed in the morning. You are a political news junkie who can name at least 10 Republicans running for office in 2022. You dive headfirst into data. You want to gain email experience and jump into a career in marketing.

Does that sound like you?

Then this is exactly the internship you’ve been looking for.

The best and most exciting parts of interning at IMGE? No two days are the same. You will get to work on a wide variety of projects over the semester and learn about email marketing tools. We need someone who can dive headfirst into details and communicate effectively with the team on priorities.

What will my day look like?

Our spring internship begins in January and ends in late April/early May depending on the start date. Our office in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, will be open for interns to work with a small team in the office, with remote options also available.

You will provide support to one of our email and data teams. You’ll have access to a library of digital marketing training materials and certifications to grow your marketing skillset. This position is at least 15 hours per week and no more than 40 hours a week.

Here’s what we’ll expect you to do:

  • Email campaign execution for various political and consumer brand newsletters
  • Data management, audience segmentation, and reporting
  • Brainstorm and help curate email content and breaking news alerts
  • Support team members administratively through research, taking meeting minutes, inbox and reply management, and more.

Here’s what we are looking for:

  • Affinity toward digital. Do you use Instagram every day? That’s cool. But do you understand email marketing campaigns? Even better.
  • Attention to detail. Can you spot an error on a spreadsheet and update the formula?
  • Positive and self-starter attitude. Do you jump at the chance to take on new projects?
  • Knowledge of the political landscape and races across the country.
  • Ability to write creatively and with brevity in mind. Could you summarize your interest in working with IMGE into a tweet?

Bonus points if you have experience with the Google Suite, WordPress, and email marketing platforms such as Iterable, MailChimp, or Constant Contact.

  • Competitive hourly compensation
  • Email marketing training
  • Team lunches and office dogs (if in-person)
